wins national award
The Plimmerton Volunteer Fire Brigade's new internet website, up and running for less than three weeks, has won the prestigious IDG / Computerworld magazine "Web Site of the Week" award, joining such major organisations as Air New Zealand, APEC and Lion Nathan.
The website, already visited by more than 700 people, offers news and information about the brigade, and up-to-date information about emergency callouts. Recent additions include an account of the brigade's historically important fire station site and a free offer for local residents.
Web site editor Tony Sutorius, a senior firefighter in the brigade, says he is delighted and a little surprised by the award. "We've only just started, so this is a great honour. It's great that a little organisation like ours can be noticed nationally amongst all the major, big-budget competition that exists on the internet now. We'll certainly work to make sure that our site continues to be valuable resource to the Plimmerton community, and perhaps now we can even help people further afield" he says.
